What Sex means to some

Let's start this by saying at one time or another I wanted to be a Sexologist. Human sexual behavior has always been incredibly fascinating to me in a nosy-neighbor- sort-of-way. I've always had a narrow view on what sex meant in a relationship. I felt that to have sex with someone you should deeply care about them. Which I still feel but I am ashamed to say I was overly judgmental of people who had...........alternative views on sex till I took a Family and Marriage class in college. My Professor helped me better understand that some couples have an understanding in their relationship that works for them which doesn't mean they are less in love than a socially excepted couple would be. I am completely fascinated by how these decisions and especially learning how these conversations come about. Oh to be a fly on that wall!

I think I'm starting to understand the logic of some of the alternative sexual relationships out there, for example Swingers. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it might be that some of these couples are so in love that nothing can hurt their relationship. Sounds to simple right?! They must be
crazy, sick, perverted! But maybe not. Sure a lot of us can agree that it is an unhygienic activity but maybe the thought behind it is pure? Could you imagine being that in love, that trusting to just know without a doubt that even knowing that your partner is off with someone else it doesn't mean anything, truly doesn't mean anything? If you can wrap your head around it, it’s sweet in a way....if you can. If not then it’s crazy, sick and perverted.

Try to forget about the MASSIVE amounts of sex swingers have with with other swingers and imagine having a bond with someone so purely bound by trust and love that you know that nothing can break you apart. I think it’s possible for anyone whatever your romantic relationship grouping arrangement is.

Being in my 20's, a lot of my friends aren't in a healthy relationship which saddens me a lot because I think that love is the ultimate form of happiness and I want everyone to fall in love. Yet time and time again there's a bad break up here a one night stands there. People rush into relationships without getting to know the person and then staying in those toxic relationships for weeks, months and sadly years. Why don't people talk to each other? Just speaking and being honest can save a dying relationship or start a healthy one. Starting off relationships on a lies and basing your next partner off looks first and personality sometimes never is why I feel people can't find true, lasting, sustainable love.

Some people are ok with casual sex without the emotion ties that come with a relationship, I respect that as a personal choice but sex is the closest you can physically get to someone else. You are at your most vulnerable and trusting even if you don't think so. You're trusting another person with your body. Trusting them not to harm you for those moments you spend together. Don't take it for granted.
